Beautiful Possibility

Walls of Intrigue and Cabinets of Curiosity

"Walls of Intrigue and Cabinets of Curiosity makes the most of our shared delight in monkey business. Victoria artist Tracey Nelson places “monkey” imagery at the centre of her installation with scores of handcrafted monkeys as well as paintings and video with monkey characters and a robotic drawing machine. "

Who doesn't like monkey business?

Ruffle Photos

"On May 14th, the BALCONY gallery @ Xchanges opens with it's first installation, the Ruffle. A 100 foot long confection made of pink tulle, the Ruffle presides over a concrete parking lot usually reserved for auto-mechanics and carpet cleaning vans. Within this context, the Ruffle flirts with the old sexual stereotypes; the Ruffle is feminine, just as cars and concrete are masculine. the Ruffle is a pretty, quirky and thought-provoking comment on the role of the nonsensical in a practical space. the Ruffle runs until June 10th at 2333 Government Street."

Photos from Pedestrian Colour

Pedestrian Colour opened at the Slide Room Gallery tonight. I was lucky enough to sample drinking water from three different Victoria locations. Personally I like the VISA water best, maybe it's the clay pipes?

Michael Comeau at the Ministry

Michael Comeau has printed himself into a carpal tunnel. Inside that fantastic tunnel, you'll find a massive archive of posters from the Toronto music, comic, queer and film scenes - thousands of kung fu masters, pornicorns, gangsters, divas, space invaders and hot babes! This is the output of legend, the cave paintings of a folk hero.

Comeau is so famous Universal Pictures is making a HOLLYWOOD movie that includes his character from the Scott Pilgrim comic series starring Michael Cera! Comeau tried out for the part of himself and was rejected, probably because the most authentic thing a casting agent has ever seen are their own turds.

Ouch. Sorry casting agents. Am I the only one who has had their fill of Michael Cera?

No Fixed Address at the Ministry of Casual Living

THE INSTITUTE FOR THE SCIENCE OF IDENTITY is comprised of a nomadic band of inquirers working to develop platforms for grassroots skill-sharing strengthened by collaboration and potluck. We have no designated facilities or authority structures; information is disseminated through a loosely connected system of localized bulletin boards and word of mouth. Dedicated to the rhizomatic transfer of ideas and technical knowledge, we utilize working methods that are akin to those of the old guilds. With a utopian desire to circumvent bureaucratic hierarchies we have no wish to be recognized in academic, scientific or political circles. Everyone is welcome!
